Flagship of the sailing fleet, this exceptional sea boat is a really beautiful craft, hand-built for each individual owner with options for finish, upholstery, and accommodation. It can have two or four sumptuous double staterooms, or a workshop and office. The main saloon will seat or dine 12, the galley is large and well-appointed with every convenience you would expect. There is a fully-equipped navigation station, and an interior pilot position with all-round vision, controls and instrumentation to hand. The well-designed cockpit and inside helm positions, plus easily-handled cutter rig, allow a husband and wife team comfortable, carefree sailing indefinitely. The Prout 50 incorporates the latest construction specifications, isophthalic gelcoats, biaxial sandwich core materials that give high tensile strength, with lower weight and greater panel stiffness. All Prout catamarans are designed and constructed by yachtsmen to combine technology with traditional boat building skills. Prout Catamarans was the first boat builder in the UK to receive Lloyds ISO 9002 quality standard recognition. Prout prides themselves in keeping in touch with owners through an excellent after-sales service and a strong owners association. There are currently more than 80 Prout 50s sailing the world today.
Prout 50 Specifications - Standard Equipment General Construction Hull - The hull is molded using the latest molding techniques and to minimize the risk of osmosis, gelcoat is of the isophthalic type. The first layers of glass are powder bound laid with isophthalic resins using the Scott Bader system which is guaranteed for five years against osmosis. Incorporated in the lay-up are biaxial fibers and balsa topsides. High-stress areas are reinforced with Kevlar. Deck - The deck molding uses top-quality Lloyds approved materials and incorporates balsa sandwich to give strength where required. It is also reinforced at high-stress areas and where fittings are sited. Incorporated in the deck lay-up are the latest biaxial materials for strength and weight saving. Bulkheads - All main bulkheads are substantially bonded and stitched after the first layers with unidirectional rovings. The bulkheads are located at strategic points to give compressional and torsional strength where required. Some are vacuum bagged composite construction for effective weight saving and strength. Interior - All interior furnishings are designed to complete a honeycomb type structure. All pieces are bonded into the hull and deck assembly in order to serve the dual purpose of function and strength. Buoyancy - Because of our method of construction, the boat is unlikely to sink. There are built-in buoyancy compartments forward on each hull and the water tanks form a double bottom system in the vessel giving additional security should she be holed. Accommodation Finishes - Two-part polyester spray finishes, lacquered veneered bulkheads, composite construction furniture with vinyl deckhead and hull side linings. Aft Cabin - Starboard - Large double cabin with 54" x 78" berth, 5" covered cushions, 2 opening ports, opening hatch, bulkhead light, soft textured linings, hanging locker with drawers, drawer - vanity unit, carpet, en suite head - shower - wash basin. Access to steering gear and engine. Amidships Cabin - Starboard - Toilet and hand basin, pressurized hot and cold water, molded floor, ventilator, opening port, carpets. Master Cabin - Starboard - King-size double cabin with 60" x 80" berth, 5" cushions, 2 hanging lockers with drawers, vanity unit with drawers, upholstered seat with stowage, bulkhead light, hull linings, opening port, opening hatch with ventilation, soft textured linings throughout, vanity unit with drawer, carpet. Forepeak Cabin - Starboard - Double berth with storage under, 5" covered cushions, opening deck hatch, bulkhead light, soft textured linings, access to forward buoyancy compartment, drawer - vanity unit, zipped stowage compartment, opening port. An option allows this cabin to be used as a third toilet and shower compartment or as a workshop or a twin berth crew cabin. Plumbing - Two baffled GRP water tanks molded into keels each with 80 imp. gallons capacity with inspection covers. Pressure water pump to feed hot and cold pressurized system to head - shower compartments and to galley, calorifier hot water system, gas feed to galley is via 3-8" copper tubing from regulated 7 kg bottle in vented locker, 2 gas bottles in dedicated locker, bilge pumps are Henderson gusher type operated from cockpit, sink wastes are taken through low-level skin fittings with ball valves. Electrical System - 12V DC, 2 x 12V 60 AH alternators, 400 AH domestic supply battery bank, 2 x 80 AH engine start batteries. Battery charger, ring main, shorepower, master switches, engine control panel, circuit breaker panel, masthead tricolor, steaming & deck flood, deck level navigation lights, anchor light Engine - Twin 40 hp diesels driving two balded 16" propellers, 65 AH alternators, single-lever controls, cooling by fresh water via a heat exchanger which produces hot water to 2 x 11 imp. gallon calorifiers, exhaust is water cooled via muffler, 2 x 70 imp. gallon fuel tanks located forward. Instruments - Bulkhead mounted compass - Log - Echo sounder - Wind instrument. Steering - Hydraulic wheel steering, twin GRP rudders with s-s shafts and s-s tiller connection bar.
