CAPSTONE is a rare low hour Wide-Body Grand Banks 36' Classic. In 1988 Grand Banks added additional length and beam to the 36' Classic resulting in a much more comfortable yacht. Hull number 1117 with 751 hours on her twin Cummins 220 hp diesel engines is barely broken in. Our Captain ran her for 5 hours on 6/22/2022 and both engines ran flawlessly.
Her all teak interior is in beautiful condition throughout. Her accommodations are divided fore-and-aft. The aft cabin owners stateroom, which is enormous for a 36-footer, has a centerline queen-sized island berth, walk-in wardrobe, large ensuite head, a wealth of storage and a companionway that opens out to the cockpit. The forward guest cabin cabin is down three steps from the main salon featuring twin berths, a hanging locker and ensuite head. There is a filler cushion that can be added to convert the bed to a large double.
In a production run from 1965 to 2004 Grand Banks built over 1200 36' Classics. The wide-Body versions rarely come on market because owners simply love them.
A Semi-Displacement hull with a long keel, hard chines and a deep forefoot provide the stability that won the 36' a reputation for seaworthiness seldom matched by other boats in her class.
Capable of true deep-water cruising, the Grand Banks 36 Classic is a sea-worthy performer. From the very first glance, it is easy to see why this Ken Smith-design is so desirable.
