A custom Bill Garden designed trawler yacht executed in low maintenance unfinished welded aluminum by Brian Riley. Rugged, simple, sensible, seaworthy and safe for Pacific Northwest cruising.
Single owners since new,... in excellent shape and ready to cruise!
A very solid and comfortable sedan cruiser with a covered cockpit aft, wide walk arounds with good hand holds and a secure "ship" feel. The salon has settees on both sides and a wood burning fireplace along the aft bulkhead beside the door.
The helm station is to starboard with a sliding door for access to the side deck. The galley runs along the port side down a few steps from the helm.
Opposite the galley is a head with separate stall shower. Forward is a large V-berth stateroom. There is abundant storage in all areas including the engine room and lazarette.
Low maintenance finishing and a simple approach to cruising gear make for a capable boat that can be easily used in all seasons and cared for with minimum fuss.
Down a few steps from the salon level with natural light from above and cabin portlight.
Fuel: 2 X 200 Imperial gallon tanks in welded aluminum. Equipped with inspection and cleaning ports.

The owners told me part of the story of events that led them to acquire Paanya.
"I have always been interested in boats and I remembered reading about Bill Garden, who designed boats over on Vancouver Island. Being a follower of the Americas Cup racing in the mid 80's I also read about Brian Riley. When I discovered that he was working with Bill Garden over on the Island I thought I would see if they could build me a boat.
He took Liz and I on his old boat to his island home where we told him what type of boat we wanted. After a number of phone calls and more meetings at his home he introduced us to Brian Riley. Brian had recently finished a project and had a clear schedule at the time.
By coincidence, our discussions with Bill and Brian were happening in October 1987 as the market was having a dramatic moment and a number of people were calling to cancel their boat building plans. Eventually Bill, Brian and ourselves signed a tentative contract to move ahead with the project.
Bill showed Brian sketches of what I wanted and when Brian agreed to them Bill started on the design work. Bill also helped Brian get his shop set up and that's how it began.
During the build we met several times at the shop, at Bill's place and on occasion at the local Stonehouse Pub. Bill sent me several sketches of what the boat could look like but readily incorporated ideas from us after our review. I was unsure about the construction of the pilot door and the cockpit door,... Bill indicated that his friend, Bent Jespersen, could take care of that for us. That was the same day Bill gave us the plans for a wood heater.
Upon finishing the vessel to a lockup stage, my wife Liz and I started on fitting out the vessel at Captain's Cove Marina. We purchased local plywood, white cedar and paneling for Liz to work with on the interior while I got the electrical panels, wire and plastic piping and fittings for the engine room. Upon completion of fitting the vessel out we test ran her several times on the Fraser River. When we were satisfied that all was well we bought a tide book and charts of the river and Gulf Islands and went on our first voyage across the Strait to Porlier Pass and down to Montague Harbour. From that time on we travelled for years exploring every nook and cranny we could find in the Gulf Islands."
