Updated! Very Clean! Makes a Great Cruiser/Live Aboard!
The original Hatteras 48 Motor Yacht (a newer model came out in 1990) was built on what Hatteras called a “dual mode” hull designed for efficient low-speed operation while retaining planing-speed capability. (Fuel efficiency was a serious marketing tool in the early 1980s when the 48 was introduced.) Showing a slightly trawler-style profile, the Hatteras 48 was heavily built on a solid fiberglass hull with 14 degree deadrise aft and a long keel for directional stability. Her standard three-stateroom, three head (Vacuflush) interior, with the dinette and galley down, is arranged with two staterooms aft of the salon. The design of the salon and dinette area is open and airy, and the forward windshield - which functions as a skylight - creates a comfortable setting with plenty of natural lighting. The spacious, full-beam afterdeck of the Hatteras 48, with custom four panel sliding glass doors, is one of the largest to be found on a boat this size—indeed, the aft deck dimensions actually exceed those of the salon. The side decks, accessed through the wing doors, are wide enough for for easy fore and aft movement. There's plenty of guest seating on the flybridge as well. Additional features include a radar arch, hardtop, an integral bow pulpit, and a swim platform. Detroit 525hp 6V92TA diesels, currently having less than 1,000 hours since rebuild, cruise at a more robust 16 knots with a top speed of 19 knots. The Westerbeke 15Kw generator was installed in 2004 and currently has around 1,200 hours.
The interior has been highly updated including a television lift in the entertainment center, new countertops in the galley and new galley cabinetry,. In May 2018, over $13,000 was spent on electronics, including Garmin 7612 XSV with dual side scanning clear view transducers, Fusion MS-UD-755 stereo, XM weather and a camera system.
