These boats are a heavy displacement blue water boat with a full keel. They were built solid so they can withstand heavy weather conditions.
CHEERS was purchased from the present owners in June of 2001 and has undergone a complete refit with many upgrades. The entire electrical system has been replaced, including all new wiring, distribution panel, switches, pumps, battery monitors and instruments, including an ICOM M802 SSB with an AT-140 Tuner and SCS Pactor Modem. All wiring coming to the distribution panel was methodically labeled for
The engine was removed and the bilge thoroughly cleaned. The engine compartment was primed and painted. A new Force 10 stove/oven/broiler was added along with a Newport Dickinson Fireplace for cruising in cold climates
The hull is insulated below the waterline with an Airex core to
prevent moisture accumulation. New plumbing was installed throughout the entire boat including on-demand fresh water at both sinks.
A salt water pump was installed for an anchor wash down system.
Two stainless steel bow rollers were mounted on the bowsprit for easy storage and deployment of anchors.
A Monitor Self Steering Windvane was added for short-handed sailing.
After cruising the NE Atlantic Coast during the summer months for twelve years and making many upgrades to CHEERS, the owners began cruising full-time along the Atlantic coast, the Bahamas and the Caribbean Sea.
It is now time for Cheers to have a new captain and continue the cruising journey.
