Now here's a discounted deal, a fine 1980 CAL 31, well equipped for anywhere in Puget Sound and BC cruising. This well-mannered Lapworth Design is a lot of boat for the money, with a solid hull and foam cored deck, 2022 bottom paint, strong rig and laminated sails with custom engineered bow fitting for the furling Gennaker. The strong Universal Diesel has good access and better heat exchange placement than I've ever seen. Solar panels help keep the golf cart batteries topped up. There's even a rowing dinghy with sail rig. There's a comfortable cockpit, dodger, bimini, refrigeration and heat (engine or electric at the dock). There's clever use of space; chart storage, folding table, and the Port Settee becomes a double, allowing the boat to easily sleep a family of five. No quarter-berth allows generous lazarette storage, additional engine access and refrigeration across from the stove instead of next to it! Should I repeat, lots of storage a few more times! Of course there's good safety equipment like the propane sensor, fire extinguishers, and protected lifesling. If you are moving up from a small daysailer this is the cruising boat you can grow into and really go places. Someone is gong to snag this good "classic plastic" cruiser, and have a great time sailing. Be quick and that could be you!
