Constructed of GRP with cast iron fin keel and skeg mounted rudder, mast and spars are of aluminium alloy. The decks and coach roof were factory fitted with SHE Deck, a proprietary form of synthetic decking developed by South Hants Engineering. This form of decking is resilient and long lived but tends to suffer cosmetically to long time exposure to theelements. Shiva's decks have been painted to mach the vessel's canvas work.

Shiva is fitted with a Beta 20 marine diesel engine developing 18hp. This is not the original engine and was installed new in 2002 along with a new shaft and propeller.

Sails are said to be in a used but serviceable condition, the wardrobe comprises of main sail, furling genoa, hank on foresail, storm jib (Unused) and a conventional spinnaker. The age of the standing rigging is uncertain, running rigging is mostly recent.

The accommodation is warm and comfortable and predominantly finished in teak hard wood and veneers. Traditional layout with vee berths in the forward cabin, heads and hanging lockers between fore cabin and saloon. The saloon is spacious, comfortable and provides a wealth of storage plus a pilot berth to port and further berths if required. The galley is located aft of the saloon on the starboard side and is supplied with a manual water supply and a gas powered Flavell Vanessa stove, a microwave oven is built in forward of the galley. The navigation space is aft of the saloon on the portside with a quarter berth further aft. The vessel benefits from having diesel powered warm air heating system by Webasto, the heater was installed a mere two years ago.
