The C&C 36 is a responsive, spacious family cruiser/racer which has good looks, strong construction, and fine upwind performance. The C&C 36 sails quite like a racer! Easy to control off the wind with it's centerboard, quick on its acceleration in puffs of wind, and a well-balanced helm made sailing a pleasure. But like other C&Cs, the 36 is a family cruiser too. The 36 was especially beamy for its day, and its designers made the most of it. They put in a double quarter berth, a navigation station, a U-shaped galley, a U-shaped dinette, a settee, forward V-berths and a head compartment. A Roller Furler make this an easy 1 man operation.

Keel Centerboard
*The keel centerboard has been an added benefit to this boat. It has allowed us to anchor is shallow water often the last available space in a popular anchorage. In 1988 we sailed from Sag Harbor, NY, to Block Island, RI with two other boats (27' each) and when we arrived late in the afternoon, all the deep water spots were occupied. We pulled up the center board and followed our friend’s boats through the anchorage focusing on a place to anchor. All of a sudden we looked up and everyone was staring waiting for us to run aground. Boy did we have a good laugh!! Years ago we had a cottage on the water…. and luckily we were able to anchor in front of the house because we had only a 4.6’ draft. Another benefit is when running in front of the wind we’d haul up the centerboard and gain a knot or two over the boats chasing us.
