The St Francis 50 is offered by South African builder St Francis Marine. Since 1988, St Francis Marine has hand built sophisticated luxury catamarans of different sizes with exceptional craftsmanship.
This CE certified, Category A "Ocean" catamaran boasts elegant styling, intelligent layouts, and seaworthiness. The SF50 is a blue water sailing catamaran that’s strong, fast, easy to sail and certainly one of the best and safest cruising catamarans available. Her redundant systems, tremendous tankage, and proven design shall instill confidence in voyagers for years to come.
Features of the St Francis 50 -
Ultimate Helm Position -
The helm position on the SF50 is fully protected from sun and rain under a hardtop bimini and glass dodger. A windshield wiper clears the view in poor conditions. The glass is lifted open in pleasant conditions. Full enclosures are stowed within clever bimini recesses thus available for immediate utilization.
The helmsperson is naturally included with the rest of the crew in the cockpit area. The seat flips to face aft whilst at anchor. Access to the starboard deck is unimpeded. The view of the bows and sterns is 100%.
Astonishing Storage -
St Francis has more storage than any other catamaran remotely close in size. Several concepts are unique to St Francis, such as the draining storage compartments in the cockpit sole and dedicated cushion storage for the very large cushions that convert the tables into beds.
Largest Tanks of any catamaran -
The fuel tanks boast 232 gallons providing incredible range. The water tanks combine to an astonishing 360 gallons (a rain catchment system serves as a back up to the watermaker). Sailors in freshwater or marinas will appreciate the tremendous blackwater tanks with a capacity of 146 gallons.
Note that Lavranos designed the holding tanks to sit in each keel and the water tanks are forward and above. If the hull gets damaged, seawater will only fill a tank instead of filling a hull. Genius.
