This very pretty sports cruiser is a good find. The boat has been in permanent professional care, routine servicing and constant upgrades. She nips between Phuket and Langkawi with ease and you will see her crew washing and polishing at every destination.
These boats have made a good name for themselves ....
Within minutes of taking my position behind the helm I felt at home and confident in the hull’s ability. The 38SC was as easy if not easier to drive than the average family car. She was a pleasure to drive. Turns… you want turns! This hull has extremely large and aggressive chines, which work in conjunction with the keel to trap air between the chines’ outer edges and the keel, so the hull literally rides on a cushion of air. I threw her into some pretty wild turns and figures-of-eight at full noise and not once did her tail slip out or did she show any signs of baulking.
Driving this boat is deceptive, because she handles more like a 20-foot ski boat than a 9000kg cruiser. I have spoken to a couple of other boating journos, who got to test the SC38 in rough conditions and both praised this Sealine’s rough water handling. After these comments and my own experiences I’d have no qualms about running this boat on coastal passages such as Sydney to Port Stephens.
TETHYS was fully optioned from the factory, 7Kva genset, air conditioning, manually opening fabric hardtop, bow thruster and more. A new generator was installed in 2018, new AQUADRIVES and new contra rotating NIBRAL DUOPROP propellers and a new sliding hardtop.
The boat is in excellent condition throughout.
Naturally described as a semi open, the large sliding fabric roof is ideal for this region. The boat is nicely set out up top and can readily accommodate up to 8-10 people in the cockpit and has features like the BBQ grill and fridge.
The helm has an anti glare dash, double helm seat with life raft locker underneath and all normal controls.
The interior is certainly contemporary and well designed. The fit out is in washed walnut, Nightsky Corian countertops and carpeted throughout. It is an interesting design, the forward cabin has its door in the centreline with a shower to port and bathroom to starboard. There are en suite doors from the cabin and day entry doors from the saloon, a neat use of space. The linear galley has plenty of drawer and locker space, all high quality fixtures and fittings. The wrap around settee to starboard has two opening ports adjacent and the light that floods into the boat from the full width skylight really brightens up the interior.
The aft cabin has three single berths, can make up a double, is well ventilated by an overhead opening hatch and port and starboard opening ports.
The boat's AC system is 220VAC, shore power inlet and distribution. There are 220VAC outlets throughout the boat. A SEA PLEX digital control unit for the 12VDC system, lights, tank tenders etc. A VICTRON CENTAUR 40 amp charger. The 2018 DYNAMICA generator is sited below in the engine room.
