This William Garden designed Gaff Cutter has been tremendously well-maintained and stored indoors during the winters since she was launched in 2003. William Garden called this design the “Captain Blackburn” after Howard Blackburn who, after lost from his ship, rowed for days in his dory with his hands frozen to the oars finally to land and safety. He went on to sail across the Atlantic and to lead an expedition to Cape Horn!
