Manufacturer Provided Description The updated raised walkdeck design has allowed design changes that give the Carver 396 Motor Yacht a wider cabin - much roomier than one would expect. Adding to its appeal, the cabin living space has been combined into a spacious, open "great room" with plenty of salon seating and space for all sorts of extra amenities, like an end table, TV, and VCR. Two luxurious staterooms and two head compartments provide welcome privacy with the master head compartment providing separate head and shower compartments. Superb entertainment possibilities can be found everywhere, from the spacious cabin to the roomy bridge with its wetbar and L-shaped lounge - and the aft deck is no exception. Its integral bridge stairway and side deck wing doors provide convenient access, and the integral boarding platform with aft deck stairway and retractable boarding ladder make boarding easier.

A bold departure from Carver’s past history of conservative styling, the 396 Motor Yacht (called the 39 MY in 2005–6; 40 MY in 2007) is a scaled-down version of Carver’s equally controversial 506 MY (also introduced in the year 2000) with the same tiered elliptical cabin windows, high freeboard and overdone Euro styling. On the inside, however, the 396 is a stunning display of interior volume unmatched in a boat this size. The salon, easily the most impressive aspect of the boat—is immense with a panoramic outside view and about seven feet of headroom. The full-beam salon configuration is made possible by raising the side decks to eye level, which is why the boat appears to have so much freeboard. Both heads have separate stall showers. Note that in 2003 a dinette floor plan became available. Wing doors and a hardtop protect the aft deck from the elements, a molded stairway leads to the swim platform, and there’s seating for a small crowd on the flybridge.
Accommodations/Comfort The wide beam and open space make this one of the nicest boats in her class to spend time on. The owner is well accomodated in the aft master stateroom with private head and shower. Two guests can sleep in the forward stateroom. The dinette table can be converted. The interior presents itself with a light and open feel due to the 7' main cabin headroom and large windows with blinds.
Galley Meals are a breeze with the open and well configured galley. Located only a short distance from the activity of the salon allows the conversation to continue while dinner is prepared. Ample storage space and the full size refrigerator makes it easy to put things in their place for traveling.
Electronics/Helm The centerline captain seat makes visibility in all directions easy. The wrap around seating to the port and the extra helm chair allows your guests to be around you while underway.
