When it firstly appeared in 1995, the Bénéteau 50 made waves all over the world: it was the first big boat introduced by an industrial production Yard. But what a boat it was! The hull was designed by Bruce Farr, then at the peak of his career. The deck had a cockpit well separated in two different areas: one for the helmsman, with all the manoeuvres led aft, two wheels and two huge winches placed in front of him in the safest place. The other area was quite uncluttered and allowed full relax for up to eight people. Below decks, the style was signed too, by Armel Briand an office that collaborated long time with the French Group. Two different versions could respond to any wish. It was even possible to complete each version with a crew cabin at the f'c'sle. The fine craftmanship and good taste of the style joined to Bénéteau's traditional building techniques, using massive lamination and structural moulds, kept the price of the model very attractive and the success was huge: 200 units built during 9 long years of production, between 1995 and 2004. The B50 was a hard rival on the market and still made a lot of it at the end of its commercial life, as a specific model for charter companies. Nowadays the B50 is still an appreciated model for blue water sailors, thanks to its good up-wind sailing performances, her hull speed, easy of handling, liveability and stowage capacity. The unit offered, hull number 113, thought a four cabins version with crew quarters, has never been used for charter. The two owners she had since new are friends and both have kept her in magnific shape. Inside she looks pretty new. A huge fridge and a freezer have been recently added, as more lockers made on the same original style. The aft platform was enlarged with a professional work and has added a lot to the practicality of the boat, by adding a big sun-bathing space and more stowage below. Only the teak deck needs attention, although it seems not urgent. The asking price is very atractive, considering the excellent overall shape of this vessel. This boat is lying in Barcelona, close to the International Airport. You can visit her and go back home during the same day. You can contact us in Spanish, English, French or Italian.
