"Salty" is a very handsome example of the classic Chuck Paine-designed Morris Ocean Series 38. She has crossed the Atlantic and cruised the East Coast from Maine to the Caribbean and is equipped for extended offshore sailing. The Morris 38 is a beautifully built longer version of the highly successful Justine 36. The increased waterline results in higher sailing speeds and comfort at sea. There is additional cabin space and a warm rich interior. This yacht is wonderfully designed inside and out with the quality craftsmanship Morris is known for. There is plenty of sleeping room for the whole family. A real beauty in any harbor. She is stored at the Hinckley service yard in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, where she has been serviced for the last two seasons.

Manually consolidated solid glass hull with Hydrex Vinylester resin, built to the highest standards with balsa-cored ribbing and stringers. One piece Baltek ¾” end grain balsa core fiberglass deck. All areas for through deck fastenings are solid laminate. The hull to deck joint incorporates a substantial bulwark that is covered with a varnished teak cap rail. As in all Morris Ocean Series yachts, the interior is hand built and glassed to the hull and deck for additional strength. The interior furnishings are built to allow access to all parts of the hull and deck for service or upgrades.
The interior is finished in white Formica with cherry cabin sides, overhead handrails, trim overhead sheathing, and vented locker doors. Cabin sole is teak and holly. The interior cushions were reupholstered in a dark blue Utra-suede. The opening portlights, hatches and dorades provide excellent ventilation and the interior is air conditioned (when plugged into shore power) for comfort in warmer climates and to dehumidify the boat.
The mid-ship main cabin has two pullout settee berths, a large centerline dinette table with two generous fold up leaves with storage drawers, a pilot berth on the port side and book shelf on the starboard side. There are three hanging lockers, three storage lockers and several drawers in addition to the galley storage areas. The forward cabin has a v-berth with filler, a port side seat and four storage lockers and drawers.
The engine is located behind a removable access panel under the companionway, which leads down into the galley and navigational station. The nav. station is outboard facing on the port side, while the galley is located opposite on the starboard side. The galley is equipped with a Sea Frost refrigerator, three burner stove with oven, double sinks with hot and cold pressure fresh water with manual back-up and a salt water faucet with foot pump.
The head is located on the starboard side forward of the dinette. It has a hand-held shower, hot and cold pressure water, manual back-up pump, Raritan PHII marine head with Y-Valve, aluminum holding tank, and macerator. Vessel also has a Tank Tender system.
