Built in steel by a small team of talented craftsmen in Sidney, British Columbia these custom built steel raised salon cruisers are among the highest quality boats available. RED is the sixth Waterline Yachts-built blue water cruiser we've listed in the past five years. Each has proven to be an impressively conceived and constructed cruising vessel, meeting and more often exceeding the expectations of even the most discerning buyers. RED's maple-trimmed interior is impeccably fitted, her systems are cleanly installed, her coating system (beginning with flame sprayed zinc) is second to none, and she is designed for fast, comfortable and easy long term live aboard cruising. It's no wonder that her present owners have savored their time as the caretakers of this special vessel.
RED features a custom fiberglass hard dodger, raised dinette, and an impressive equipment list. She is ready to set off for further extended cruising with a long list of spares including major engine components, pumps, rebuild kits, rigging and electrical spares.
Hauled for bottom paint and surveyed by Gerry Edwards in July 2019. Survey available for review by prospective buyers.

RED’s hull is coated with red Awlgriplinear polyurethane paint with grey boot stripe. Her deck is painted with light grey Awlgrip Griptex. A welded steel anchor platform/bowsprit extends over the slightly-raked bow and has articulating stainless steel rollers for the self-launching dual anchors. The double bow pulpit extends all the way forward around the anchor platform. The bow/stern pulpits and stanchions are all constructed of 1 1/4” stainless tube. Stanchion heights are taller than average, and she features an extended stern pulpit that wraps to the forward end of the cockpit for added safety and security. Forward of the raised salon cabin top, the deck is nearly flush except for the raised hatch foundations. The cockpit is large and deep, protected by custom fiberglass hard dodger. The “walk-over transom” features a very wide and easily accessed swim platform. The next step up to the transom is generous and provides a comfortable place to sit and works well for scuba or swimming off the transom.
A beautifully constructed stainless steel arch is integral with the stern pulpit. Solar panels, radar and antennas are mounted on the arch.
On-deck storage is in a very large bow locker which also provides a watertight bulkhead forward, and in two large quarter lockers. Forward is the fiberglass-lined anchor chain bin with false floor and overboard drain.

CONSTRUCTION DETAILS:
The hull and deck are constructed of mild steel (minimum 44,000 psi yield) with a plating thickness of 1” on the keel bottom, ¼” on the keel sides, 3/16” on the hull skin, 11 gauge on the house, deck, cockpit, and transom and 10 gauge on the skeg and rudder. The angle framing system runs both transversely and longitudinally. All seams are welded inside and out. 316 Stainless steel attachment points are provided on deck for stanchions, windlass, toe rails, chainplates, and companionway hatch. The toe rail is a grey high density plastic 1 1/2" by 3" rectangular section tube and is mounted on integral welded tabs set just high enough to free all deck water quickly. Integral in the keel structure is a baffled fuel tank. Below the fuel tank is a sealed, lead filled ballast compartment in a bulb appendage. A separate propane locker is integral with the transom. A forward sail locker with deck access provides a watertight collision bulkhead. A self-draining anchor tray is built in. The bow-sprit/anchor roller is steel fabrication and welded into the hull. The salon windows are laminated and heat strengthened reflective coated glass.
The original coating system began with the entire hull being sandblasted inside and out, followed by molten zinc flame-sprayed on the hull above the waterline and on the deck. The entire hull and deck exterior were then coated with successive layers of epoxy (Devoe 235) to a 20 mil thickness. Awlgrip sandable fairing paints were then applied and sanded smooth. The finish coat on the hull and deck is Awlgrip linear polyurethane with a contrasting boot top and cove stripe.
The sandblasted hull interior was sprayed with two coats of zinc-rich epoxy and hand brushed behind all framing. Extra coats of epoxy were applied in the bilge areas. The hull is insulated with polyurethane spray foam to a thickness of 1-1/2” to 3”. Over the foam, the hull sides are lined with white painted mahogany plywood. The deck is finished with Awlgrip Griptex non-skid surface.
