Island Packet 44's have a number of features that set them apart from other designs. First there is the exclusive Full Foil Keel that unifies the performance of modern hull and foil designs with the superior seakeeping and safety of the traditional long keel. This design offers excellent protection for the prop and rudder, moderate draft and exceptional stability.
The spacious interior features a large fully equipped galley which is convenient to both the salon and cockpit. Across from the galley is the roomy aft stateroom which has private access to the aft head. The stateroom has four oping ports and a deck hatch for ventilation plus a large double sleeping area and ample storage. The aft head has two entry doors - one from the aft stateroom and one from the main cabin. A unique feature is a separate tub/shower area.
The very complete navigation station is located just forward of the galley. It has the electrical panels as well as flush mounted electronics plus a navigation table.
Moving forward "Elaine Marie" has a large an inviting main salon with comfortable seating and a large bulkhead mounted folding salon table. Port side seating is arranged with two chairs and an inlaid teak table between. This area can be made into a full length settee for added seating or an extra bunk.
The elegant owner's stateroom forward features a large offset double berth with easy access. A bureau with numerous storage bins and a built-in mirrored vanity with a pull-out seat make for a very comfortable cabin. The private forward head has a separate shower stall and a deluxe vanity with ample storage.
Aromatic cedar lining is used extensively throughout the interior in the many hanging lockers and drawers provided. The salon and staterooms feature a varnished teak and holly cabin sole. For safety the galley and companionway areas have a molded slip resistant sole. Bulkheads, doors and trim are finished in beautiful varnished teak.
All tankage is centrally located under the cabin sole maximizing stowage elsewhere in the yacht. By doing this you minimize trim changes with varying tank levels, and adding to the overall stability of the yacht.
On deck "Elaine Marie" features a wonderful cockpit that has comfortable contoured seating with over eight feet in length. To make it more pleasant on those cool or extra hot days the boat has full cockpit canvas. The decks are wide and easy to navigate with full length handrails and extra height double lifelines and recessed fore and side decks for secure footing. Finally the cutter rig has long been accepted as the most manageable and versatile rig for the cruising sailor.
The galley is conveniently located at the companionway and features ample storage including dish racks, cutlery drawers, and dry storage. The large refrigerated (7 cubic feet for the refrigerator and 3.5 cubic feet for the freezer), divided and insulated icebox is well suited for extended cruising. Plus there is a drain pump for the icebox.
The boat is powered with a 62hp Yanmar turbo diesel, four cylinder engine with only 602 engine hours. Easy access to every part of the engine and related equipment is provided with quickly removable front, side and an aft panels. The engine compartment is also sound insulated with lead-lined foam insulation. For A-C power away from the dock the boat has the optional 5kw Northern Lights generator with only 75.5 hours. The boat also has dual zone reverse-cycle air-conditioning.

The cutter rig is very adaptable to a wide range of conditions with minimum effort. It is a versatile, easily handled sailplan for a short-handed crew. The mast is a keel stepped double spreader aluminum Isomat spar. The North sails include a mainsail with cover, staysail,130% genoa and a gennaker. Both headsails have Harken roller furling.
