The Camano Troll has to be one of the most sought after cruisers in Pacific NorthWest. Here is a trawler that is not only comfortable for two, but can accommodate day picnics and overnighters for larger crowds. With an efficient displacement hull, they take a decent blow and waves in stride, yet able to handle a week-long get-away with ease. The bright and airy interior really opens up the boat, providing a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere, no what what is happening outside. With or without the curtains, do decide on your privacy.
With a name like Gypsy Rose, you can’t go wrong. The thought of no sheduled landfalls, where the journey becomes the destination, and friendship is everywhere, you can do it all in a Troll. And she is not alone, for there is a very active Camano Owners Group Pacific that has annual rendezvous in the PNW.
So Why Should You Buy This Boat?
Some modifications can be questionable to a boat, applealing to only its present owner. The following are what I see are well thought out ergonomic improvements that other Camano Troll owners have been impressed by. New owners will be pleased by the hard work previously done.
Whoever is the lucky owner, Gypsy Rose comes with an ample selection of Dreamspeaker, Waggooneer and other marine touring guides with additional maps of islands and other destinations. Further, in the main cabin there is an overhead drop leaf storage compartment that can easily accommodate charts. Neat and tidy.
in the main cabin, underneath the main table there is an added drawer to accommodate cutlery. This extra space not only makes sense, but it opens up more space in the galley for all those special spices and kitchen gadgets. The main galley itself is bright and efficient, and with an expanded countertop, canapes are a breeze to prepare.
This is well thought out space that accommodates all sorts of libations with addtional strorage for glassware. Very tasteful, well made, and proper for a yacht of this distinction.
Its refreshing not to see carpeting on a powerboat. The faux wood finish vinyl flooring is hardwearing, looks good, and is able to handle spills with ease. At first, I thought I was looking a real wooden floor.
Forward Cabin Access
Wooden slats were made to provide a level footing with the galley for a seamless no-step access to the forward cabin. This makes sense when you try it out.
Full Spring Mattress with Pillow Top
There are no foamies on this boat, for you have 8” of pure slumber heaven here. Add on a soft breeze through the ports with a gentle dockside rocking, you are in a cradle. Further, the mattress is on wooden slats to assist air to move around and limit any dampness.
For some this may sound trivial, but it places the radar in the proper place. Touches like this, go along way in making a boat into a little yacht, and reflects pride of ownership.
With a dependable gutsy powerplant, Gypsy Rose can easily cruise at 8 knots, sipping an economical under 2 gallons/hour. Such efficiencies can easily extend the cruising season, with extended landfalls. Further, this engine has been merticulously maintained by a certified marine mechanic, with no issues. Solid and mechanically sound. Maximum speed is 14 knots. Incidently, 2003 was the year that MercCruiser bought BMW Marine.
If you need to work on the engine, or to simply admire it, the two compartments are piano hinged, much like a car’s engine hood. You lift them up, they are conveniently held into place with snaps to the underside of the table. Nicely done.
Probably the best views while boating or at anchor is up on the flybridge, and Gypsy Rose will not disappoint. Wether you are looking for that fishing hole, or gone whale spotting (keep that distance please), you will not be disappointed. As well, the upper deck provides that extra lounging ‘quiet’ space that you may be looking for, with three swivel seats and space to accomodate extra storage.
Though small, it can accommodate two cozy chairs, with access to the swim ladder and tender. Underneath, there is a storage compartment. The deck chairs can also be utilised in the main cabin to accommodate extra guests for dinner, cards or conversation. To store them, they go right behind the lower helm. All you need is a bungy cord or similar.
