Catana sailing catamarans are well built, high quailty French made catamarans with a great turn of speed and excellent performance. This 1992 40S is no exception.
She draws only 42" with her dagger boards up and points like crazing upwind with boards down.
Mainsail, genoa on roller furling and cruising spinnaker.
Newer electronics, air conditioner, twin Volvo diesel engines, diesel generator and solar panels with dingy davits are featured.
This boat was purchased by her current owners with plans to make a number of improvements and upgrades. Her twin helm's aft were removed and a new helm with chair has been installed at the bulkhead and a custom hard top was installed so that the skipper can run the boat under shade.
The interior was gutted and will need reconstruction. She needs new cabinetry, stove, sink, salon table and settees. There are two air conditioner units (6000 and 9000 Btu) that are installed and operating but the ducting needs to be properly run. Headliner in salon needs to be refinished.
Salon windows have been rebedded and are now keeping the boat dry. Fittings are not standard.
Hulls have aft non opening ports removed (to stop leaking) and have been replaced with fiberglass solid panels.
This is a three stateroom layout with single head.
This cat offers a great opportunity for a new owner with the skills and budget to bring her up to her previous condition. Owners plans have changed and they will not be completing the refit.
The boat was recently sailed from St Augustine to Florida's west coast and the crew reported that they were amazed with the Catana sailing performance!
Call or email with questions you may have. We look forward to getting you aboard her in Cortez Florida, on Florida's West Coast/Tampa Bay area.
