With over 1500 delivered the iconic GRAND BANKS 42' Classic remains the most successful trawler design ever produced. Introduced in 1966, the original mahogany construction gave way to fiberglass in late 1973.
The GRAND BANKS 42's semi-displacement hull with it's long keel, hard chines and a deep forefoot, provides a level of stability and comfort seldom matched by other boats. Full teak interior with galley up at the port side forward, lower helm door to starboard & mid-salon door to port enhance ingress & egress to either side, a must when locking through or docking at a different port each evening.
Surrounded by large cabin windows, visibility from the lower helm is excellent in all directions. A 10' Hard Bottom Zodiac is stored in custom chocks on the aft cabin top, and there's plenty of flybridge seating aft of the helm. Additional features include an easily folded down mast/boom with crutch, aft cockpit for easy line handling or a couple of chairs & table for enjoying the sunsets, plus wide walk arounds that allow easy access to all four corners of the boat, a must for serious cruising.
Truly a couple's dream for extended cruising, day trips or taking a group of friends around the lake for sight seeing.

Two staterooms complete with individual heads divided by a large salon equals a "tri-cabin motor yacht". One of the most famous layouts ever introduced. Whether a 36'er or a 49'er GRAND BANKS perfected the tri-cabin layout building thousands of them.
GRAND SLAM is the most popular of GRAND BANKS tri-cabins, the 42' Classic.
A large salon that is accessible from the port side or the starboard side, essential for one couple handling of a vessel this size.
At the forward end of the salon & down several steps is the forward "Vee" stateroom with loads of storage in drawers, cupboards & lockers. A private head makes this the best of both worlds, cruising with another couple in complete privacy or using this area for additional storage.
At the stern is the master stateroom comprised of the "traditional" & most popular layout; a full size or double to starboard & an over sized single berth to port. This layout offers an abundance of space for drawers, lockers & cupboard plus a private head w/stall shower.
Salon space is used efficiently with a full lower helm area on the starboard (proper) side, the GRAND BANKS optional storage locker in front of the large L-lounge that accompanies the fold down teak table.
Opposite the lounge area on the port side of the salon is a corner entertainment system above the Grunert holding plate Freezer box.
There is another settee on the port side then a full door.
The galley is opposite the lower helm on the port side. It features full salon views plus all the amenities; double SS sink, full 3 burner propane stove w/oven, microwave, storage in multiple drawers & cupboards. A real dream to use because you are not "down in a hole" but able to converse with guests while looking out doors.
All of the interior is based on a magnificent "teak parquet" cabin sole. It is gorgeous & can be covered as desired by throw rugs from "priceless Persians" (yes we've seen it) to department store look a likes that wear like iron & are washable.
In addition to the teak cabin sole GRAND BANKS has always been known for their teak panels & trim solids. This interior is magnificent!
Bright interior with loads of large windows that open with screens. Complete 360 degree visibility.
Galley is located on salon level with excellent visibility while preparing a sandwich for a quick lunch or dinner for six. The chef is always in the action.
Loads of storage in drawers, lockers & cupboards.
