Malaika is a 46’ New Zealand bluewater sailing sloop elegantly designed by Alan Wright. Hull built by Goodwin, with fit-out, rigging, etc. by Salthouse Brothers. Well-maintained by loving owners, she boasts of very sturdy fiberglass construction, a sensible cutter-rigged sail plan and a reliable engine. Equipped with all furling sails and a hard dodger, she can be sailed without having to leave the safety and comfort of the protected center cockpit. Sails and rigging are in good condition.
Malaika is laid out with well-appointed master cabin, V-berth cabin, side cabin plus additional pilot berth, 2 dry heads, U-shaped settee salon with reverse cycle cooling/heating, nav station and generous galley. She has ample storage, with the side cabin currently used as a workshop. Her classic and stylish interior boasts solid hardwood cabinetry and bulkheads. Light-colored furnishings and headliners and good headroom throughout make this boat very livable.
Her owners are a cruising couple for whom Malaika was a full timehappy ‘home’ both at sea and also in port while the husband was working. He is a design engineer in the shipbuilding industry and Malaika comes with exceptional documentation. The couple are called to their home country to tend to family responsibilities and so now must offer her for sale. Malaika has ventured far and wide around the Pacific and SE Asia, with visits to such locales as Fiji, Hawaii, Borneo and Thailand, to name a few. She was previously registered in Australia and is now Malaysian flagged.
Malaika is fully equipped with electronics, awnings and many cruising extras and ready to sail off on her next adventure.
