Below the C&C 40-2 AC is as advertised in that there are 2 cabins with one forward and one aft. The forward cabin is a double in the Vee with 4 lockers and added storage. The aft cabin is a double berth (with a new memory foam mattress and cover in 2016) to port with access directly to the head. The head is also accessed with a door to stbd of the Companionway. A retrofitted Whale Gulper electric head flush was added in 2016. The Salon is large with the keel stepped mast coming down to support a dinette (not currently installed) with large settees/single berths. To port of the stairway is the galley and to stbd is the nav station
The interior is cooled by a single a/c with ducting forward and aft.
The salon also has a TV and Bose stereo system.
The L-shaped galley is comfortable and safe underway. It consists of a double SS sink with hot/cold water. A 3 burner propane stove and fridge and freezer compartments complete the accessories. There is plenty of cubbies and storage for galleyware.
The engine is an new and upgraded Westerbeke 44-B (40hp) installed in 2010 with approx. 1000 hours to date. The drive is a V-drive which takes up less space in the cabin. In fact the entire engine/transmission is accessed under the cockpit floor. The transmission was replaced in 2016 along with an upgraded Balmar 100A Alternator, new prop shaft, new PYI dripless shaft seal stuffing box, and a refurbished Kiwi feathering prop in 2015.
A second 15 gallon fuel tank was installed to complement the original 20 gallon tank.
The electrical system was overhauled in 2017 with new Trojan Golfcart batteries installed. There is one 30A shore power receptacle to handle electrical requirements at the dock. A new 40A battery charger was added in 2015. To provide some 110V electrical power while underway, a 2500W inverter was added in 2008.
The nav electronics are simple Raymarine ST 60 units with separate Depth, Wind, and Speed in the cockpit. An additional ST60 Graphics display is at the Nav Station. Also at the nav station is a small Ritchie compass to make sure you know where you are going while down below! A small Raymarine 435i chartplotter is mounted on the helm pedestal while the COMNAV autopilot controls are to stbd within easy reach.
Also at the nav station is an Icom M402 VHF and Sony stereo/CD.
This is where the C&C 40 excels. The mast and boom are painted white. The halyards and sheets were replaced in 2016. The Harken headsail furler was rebuilt in 2017. There are winches galore!
A rod-kicker vang supports the boom. A spinnaker pole is deck mounted when not in use but there is a mast mounted track for use when flying the chute. Additional spinnaker halyards compliment the topping lift and down haul for the pole.
Currently the 120% genoa (2014) is installed on the forestay with the brand new (2017-unused) 100% working jib is still in the bag. The Mainsail was replaced in 2014 as well. All sails are UK Halsey. The spinnaker is new in 2015 with just two campaigns of use.
Ground tackle is made up of a Fortress FX-23 on chain and rope rode. Two back up "Fortress"-like anchors are included. A Mako 1500 electric windlass controls the anchor.
New cockpit cushions (2016) and a new bimini (2015) provide comfort to the captain and crew. Also a full Shade Tree awning that covers the entire deck is included.
The flush transom has a full length access/swim ladder to provide entry away from the dock.
A 9 ft Defender RIB dinghy with a (virturally) new Mercury 9.8hp 4-cycle outboard are part of the deal.
