The Newport 30 was designed by marine engineer Gary Mull and manufactured by Capital Yachts in Harbor City, California as the Newport 30 Mark II or Phase II. One of the truly remarkable features of the Newport 30 is its construction. It pioneered the style of construction that revolutionized the industry and set the standard that would keep ownership costs down and provide a relatively inexpensive and trouble free ownership experience.
The Universal Atomic 4 engine was totally rebuilt 8 years ago and has clocked very few hours since then.
Below she is configured with a dinette to port which adjusts down to a double berth. To starboard is a single bench berth, or additional cabin seating. Aft to starboard is a pilot berth while to port is the galley area with a propane cooker and oven. The head is amidships to port and boasts a marine head and sink and shower. Forward is the V-Berth.
This model is also called the "Mark II" or "Phase II" and was modified to compete in the int 3/4-ton race class, with a taller mast and shorter main sail boom.
