Rebel X (Ten) is a rare offering as very few were built. This a beautifully designed boat by the respected designer Van De Stadt and built by the equally reputable Southern Ocean Shipyard and Tyler Boat Co. This boat was built in 1968 and given its many years of extensive ocean and local cruising, it is currently in beautiful condition. The vessel is real testament to the good design and excellent execution by the builder and trades who created this vessel. The current ownerships 24 years of caring and documented maintenance is also very relevant.
The Rebel 41 design was ahead of its time, being built in the early days of solid layup fiberglass and being fitted with a fin keel and balanced rudder for better sailing performance. A look through the photo gallery of the boat out of the water will reveal the beautiful lines that are rarely seen in todays designs.
There are many design features that make this a great boat, a stout sloop or cutter rig, the split well protected cockpit, numerous sea berth options, a quality navigation station, a spacious open cabin and a separate forward master cabin. This is a vessel that would be comfortable on a ocean passage and an equally pleasant refuge when anchored in your favorite bay.
In summary there is an opportunity here to purchase a quality boat that is capable of taking you anywhere. If you appreciate traditional design and a sea sensible approach to the compromises involved in boat design then you should not miss this one.
