The Le Comte Medalist Mark I was designed by William Tripp, Jr. and was manufactured by LeComte Yachts in the Netherlands between 1962 through 1965. Approximately thirty Le Comte Medalist 33 MKI yachts were built, including this 1963 model. The design was altered somewhat in 1965 and the result was the MK II/III.
At the risk of overusing a cliché, this yacht is a head-turner whenever she enters a harbor. Featuring a classic design and rugged construction, this yacht offers a very pleasing appearance and excellent performance. Chanticleer was Awl Gripped Flagship Blue in 2006. Several other upgrades were completed at that time, such as reseating of the chain plates and the replacement of the original Atomic Four with a Yanmar diesel. The Yanmar currently has about 100 hours of use. (The seller proudly reports that she prefers to sail on and off her mooring.)
More recent upgrades include a new mainsail and furling 130% Genoa in 2015. Both are in very good condition.
This sailboat has been used regularly each season and is currently stored inside for the winter at a boatyard on Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
