ELETTRA III is an 85-foot steel hulled motor vessel originally commissioned by the Marconi Marine Company as a maritime technology demonstration vessel. The company’s founder, the famous inventor Guglielmo Marconi, was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1909 for his pioneering work in the development of the wireless technology which led to VHF radio and RADAR systems. This vessel was acquired from private ownership by a non-profit for the purpose of teaching STEM, marine and environmental science to teenagers. The organization made a substantial investment in design, engineering and modification to serve in that capacity. However, the organization has now changed course and ELETTRA III is available for purchase. She will make an excellent marine science research vessel or private yacht with a modest investment in finishing out staterooms and living areas.
