Built by Fellows& Stewart boat yard and designed by Bill Garden, Katherine Jane is a classic yacht, combining great lines and more modern systems. She was totally restored in 2002 including repowering with Lugger Diesel, Hurricane Diesel heat, Northern Light Genset. She carries 3200 gallons of fuel giving her an exceptional range. The seakindly design with canoe stern allow for miles of comfortable cruising. She is set up to sleep 9 in 4 separate staterooms with 3 heads. Her wiring has been redone. Accommodations The main salon is accessed from the covered canoe stern. The salon has a spacious L-shaped dinette, an "up" galley, provides great views of the outside, and is well lighted and ventilated. The master stateroom is entered via spiral stairs aft, and provides a large double bed, single bed, hanging lockers, built-in drawers, and separate head with shower. Forward of the salon and down are staterooms A, B, and C. Each has 2 single bunks, hanging locker, and built in drawers for storage. The forward staterooms are supported by 2 heads and one shower. Forward in the foc'sle is a dry pantry with shelves and drawers. The stand-up engine room is located amidships with access from the master stateroom and forward stateroom area. The pilot house is entered from the starboard salon or from outside doors and can sleep one on the settee. The large lazarette is below the aft deck.
Galley The galley is "up" and has good views of the outside. There are two refrigerators, a deep single stainless sink, two faucets (one filtered for drinking), and a nice counter for buffet, fruit storage, floral arrangement, or bar.
Electronics The electronics have a functional and well designed layout for the skipper/navigator. Displays and instrumentation include radar, GPS, video depth and fishfinder, compass, all engine readouts, genset, furnace, holding tank systems, battery charging/inverting, VHF, Auto Pilot, 12V panel, SSB, and cell phone.
Electrical The Katherine Jane has been completely rewired in her AC an DC systems.
Engines and Mechanical In her refit in 2002 the Katherine Jane's engine room was spared "no expense". She recieved new engines, transmissions, propellers, thru hulls, sea cocks, fuel manifolds, filters(Racor), fuel polishing system, inverter, battery charger, and furnace. She has been recently upgraded with an engine room fire suppression system. The engine room is large and provides easy access to all systems. 6'6" headroom.
Deck, Hull, and House The decks have been renewed with old caulking removed, the cotton re-set, and new caulking applied. Decks have just been resealed and oiled. New canvas on windows, scuttle, flybridge seats, dinghy, and windlass. House and hull have been refinished and painted in 05. Interior has all new paint in fall of 05. New bottom paint and zincs in summer of 05. Beautiful new flybridge roof installed summer of 05.
Sanitation System All systems upgraded. There are 2 holding tanks, and automatic pumping for all grey water.
Restoration details The Katherine Jane completed a total restoration in August 2002. The restoration included all new machinery and equipment. The hull and decks were recaulked and resealed. All bulwarks were replaced with aluminum. The rubrail was reconstructed with angelique hardwood. The caprails were built with Honduras mahogany. The aft deck canopy was replaced. She has new deck hatches, new deck prisms, and new salon top with nonskid on surface. The masts were refurbished and have new SS rigging. The windows and screens in the salon are new. There is new flooring in the wheelhouse, galley, and heads, and the carpet is new in the salon, cabins, and stairways. All restoration completed in 2002.
