"Good Luck" oozes nautical charm left and right! She is a William Hand designed one of a kind boat, and William Hand designed vessels can sell in the millions.
Good Luck was built in 1917 at Cape May, NJ and brought to Portland in 1924 via train, then sailed down to San Francisco. Her original owner was one of the executives of Johnson and Johnson Medical Supplies, whose popularity and value exploded after WWI.
Originally designed by William Hand as a motor sailor, one of her former owners had the masts removed to park her in a covered slip in San Rafael. The masts are still in storage with the original sails and some rigging.
Good Luck was recently cold molded in San Rafael, and then sprayed with Awl Grip. The interior was reworked and made it into a very comfortable open plan layout. What once was the toilet is now the shower and the closet now holds the new vacu-flush head. The 40 gallon holding tank is under the queen memory foam bed. She;s recently had new batteries, new wiring and virtually everything inside, except the 1937 Chrysler flathead six motor. There is a new 26 gallon fuel tank on the port side of the cockpit.
She's currently being used her as an Airbnb rental as a revenue generating platform and there is a possibility of that arrangement continuing with the blessing of the marina.
