Stable Vee Hull –
Four Winns Stable Vee hull design is a proprietary stepped hull, but not like any that we’ve seen. The step is well back from the midships area, closer to the aft quarters. The cutout in the hull is also curved both as it runs to the keel and as it flows aft along the chine. The chines themselves are also reversed so more of the outsides of the hull are deeper in the water. This provides for stability at rest and better turning performance while remaining flatter during those turns.
What You Get with a Four Winns
Four Winns boats have some features that get shared across the entire product range. Let’s take a look at just what those features are.
Water Level Extended Swim Platform.
There’s a molded platform and then a bolted on optional extended platform that is lower than the first. This makes for easy use when watersports are on the game plan. Additionally, Four Winns utilized deep reboarding ladders that are angled out from the boat. This makes it easier to find the lower run when in the water. And all treads are wider so it feels more comfortable on bare feet.
Water Intrusion Management System (WIMS).
The boat is going to get wet, it’s a fact of life, but some boats deal with it better than others. At Four Winns, the goal is moving water away from compartments and gear. All storage spaces onboard Four Winns boats have gutters that prevent water from entering the compartment, and serve to channel water into drains so there’s no puddling. All the water drains into the bilge where it can be pumped out with a flip of the switch, or automatically with the included float switch.
Four Winns Seating.
The seating includes Comfort Ride bucket seats that feature a spring system with multiple densities of foam for a more comfortable seating experience. Rigid pedestals for swivel utility support them. Seatbacks wraparound for added support while the lower sections remain open so occupants can swing their legs around without having to reach under to swivel the seats. Flip-up bolsters are optional on some models including this H190. All seats are constructed with the highest quality materials such as Aquaflex/Silvertex vinyl. Hinges on seating surfaces offer easier access to storage.
While we haven’t tested this model, the team at Four Winns has and they’ve shared some of their results with us. Depending on engine sizes, top speeds have been in the range of 43 to 55 mph. Mid range fuel flow runs between 8 and 10 gph (30 to 37 lph), all numbers right where we would expect them to be.
While the features of the H190 separate her from the pack, her layout remains true bowrider with V-seating forward. The cockpit has a three across bench seat at the rear and a pair of swiveling and sliding bucket seats forward. Just behind is a sun pad with a convertible lounge seat. The swim platform is mated to an extended platform just behind, and lower to the surface. However, the H190 is much more than the sum of her parts. Drilling down a little closer shows some thoughtful features throughout the boat. For example, Four Winns takes a lot of pride in the fact that the design takes in the human element. Grab handles are placed such that a quick reach will not result in a slammed funny bone or jammed fingers. The fact that the reboarding ladder is much easier to use than on other brands isn’t lost on us. Seating has hinged cushions so they don’t blow off and can be accessed with one hand.
At the bow there is V-seating with premium vinyl upholstery. All seat cushions are hinged allowing access to the storage underneath. This storage is limited so we’d advise wearing some inflatable life vests and not filling the storage compartments with those orange PFDs that no one wears (but every boating class tells the boater that they should). Bow filler cushions are offered as an option and turn the entire area into a comfy sun pad.
Bow seating is in the usual configuration with padded back and side cushions. The V-shape of the backrest is unique to Four Winns and adds comfort and a more secure feeling for the rider.Seat cushions are hinged to allow easier access to the storage underneath. This also prevents the cushions from blowing off when hitting the throttle.
The helm is kept basic with just a pair of 3-in-1 gauges located in the center of the panel. The trim gauge is kept separate and over to the right side. An optional digital depth gauge can be added further to the right. This is part of the convenience package that also includes a digital hour meter, however the placement of that hour meter leaves little to be desired. It’s under the console, way in back and above where the right foot would go if there was a gas pedal. It’s nearly impossible to see there and can only be viewed if crawling under the console. We can think of several alternative places to put this, top of which would be under the engine hatch so it can be seen when doing the daily checks.
The panel on the H190 is kept uncluttered with two combination gauges. Good looks come from the off-color and vinyl brow just above.
Below is a grey plastic panel housing the few electrical switches. A stereo remote is to the left. A drink holder is to the right. The steering wheel is leather wrapped and mounted to a tilt base as standard.
The deluxe three-spoke leather wrapped wheel is mounted to a tilt base.
The cockpit seats are 5 between three across seating at the rear and a pair of swivel bucket seats forward. There are plenty of drink holders and all are stainless steel. A cooler is built-in under the starboard side of the bench seat and this can also be used as basic storage along with the rest of the bench. Additional storage is in the deck compartment.
The helm and observer's seats are both vented and they have swivel/slide features.Flip-up bolsters are offered as an option and we highly recommend them.
The port console has a lockable glove box as well as added storage just before the glove. This makes a great place to toss the glasses, suntan lotion and the cell phone as they’re deep and also separated into tow separate compartments so items won’t slide all over the place when the boat starts to turn.
The port console offers a lockable glove box and a convenient drink holder.Inside is the stereo with Bluetooth functionality and both MP3 and USB ports. A stereo upgrade is available that adds remotes at the helm and transom, a subwoofer and transom speakers. Here is a great convenience feature, a small pair of cubbies just before the lockable glove box.
Now there are several options offered for the cockpit that are all worth considering. We’d certainly opt for the pair of bucket seats with flip up bolsters but they are also offered with some optional package deals.
The watersports tower offers an elevated towpoint along with a color-matched Bimini. The tower is also collapsible for easy storage in the garage or rack room.
Across the aft end of the cockpit is bench seating with storage under two thirds and a built-in cooler under the remaining third. As with the bow, the seat cushions are hinged to allow for easier access. The engine hatch doubles as the sun pad to allow for easy access to the entire width of the engine compartment.
Plenty of additional storage is under the aft bench seating along with a built-in cooler.
At the stern is a sun pad atop the engine compartment. This is a staple of nearly every bowrider and naturally it, along with the rest of this aft area, should only be used when the boat isn’t underway. Four Winns added a clever touch by adding two aft facing lounge seats to both sides of the sun pad. Just flip-up the cushions and voila, aft seats.

Four Winns has its own trailer manufacturing facility right next to the boat factory in Cadillac Michigan. The trailers are not just thrown together either. Each one is custom made to the specific model. The boat’s designer works closely with the metal fabricator to ensure that the support systems for the trailer line up exactly with the stringers of the boat so no undue stress is put on the hull. Each trailer is fully welded, includes slide guides for lining the boat up better, has a low profile design, includes non-marking bow rollers, a swing away tongue, a heavy duty jackstand, polyurethane finish, high quality tires, disc brakes, submersible LED lights and fixed ratcheting tiedowns.
