The Storm 17 was designed as a family day-sailer to take up to 4 adults. She is a pretty, traditional looking boat with a symmetrical double ended hull and Gunter yawl rig. Produced by Swallow Boats in Wales and available as a completed boat or as a kit, "Llong Taid" is a home constructed kit finished in 2012. Surveyed for insurance purposes in that year she was found to be structurally sound with all work completed to a good standard. She comes complete with a Honda 2.3hp outboard and break back road trailer and is ready to go wherever the fancy takes you.

Designed for home completion the Storm 17 utilises Utile, a West African hardwood, for the frames and 6mm Robbins marine ply for the hull. Decking is in 12mm marine ply. Seams are epoxy taped and the hull below the chine is epoxy cloth sheathed with the remainder epoxy primed. The gunnels and rubbing strake are also of Utile.
The painted and varnished surfaces were found to be of "good appearance and the interior of the hull well painted out".
The laminated centreboard has18kg of lead incorporated. Transom hung rudder. The mast and spars are of Douglas Fir.
Gunter Yawl rig with masts and spars of Douglas Fir. Stainless wire standing rigging and braided running rigging. The mainsail has slab reefing and the jib has a kit ready to convert it to roller furling. All sails are by Dolphin Sails and are said to be in "as new" condition.
"Llong Taid" is powered by a Honda 2.5hp 4-stroke outboard engine mounted in a well. The motor was new in 2010.
