Rhumba is an extraordinary example of the popular Duffy 37, a solid fiberglass, full keel lobster boat, with its iconic fine entry and comfortable 14-15 kt cruise (1 gal/mile). Rhumba has been rigorously maintained and upgraded annually. Among the upgrades of the last few years are a newly painted non-skid; a new teak and holly sole in the main cabin; the new full height refrigerator/freezer and new microwave/convection oven; new Lofrans 1000 windlass, KVH SAT TV and Fusion stereo; inverter/charger, and full enclosure for the cockpit.
The layout features one stateroom with an island queen, split head, galley up, and starboard, port and aft doors to the main cabin. Additionally Rhumba has a single Cummins with modest hours, a generator, reverse cycle heat and air, and an electric dinghy davit. There is nothing amiss with this beautifully cared for downeast yacht, and it has to be seen to be appreciated. Experienced, knowledgeable owners have carefully upgraded Rhumba since 2006.

Enter the main cabin through the sliding starboard, port or aft cockpit door.
Windows open on all four sides, making for a bright, well ventilated interior. Rhumba has a beautiful teak and holly sole, installed in 2013, and a classic Herreshoff interior of light formica bulkheads trimmed in teak. The windows all have solar screens and shades, the windshield windows and hatches have canvas covers, and the opening ports have shades.
At the forward end of the main cabin, there is a drop-down helm seat to starboard and a companion drop-down seat to port. The nav station with chart storage is to port. Liquor/wine bottle storage is under each seat, added in 2015. Aft to starboard is a convertible L-settee and hi/lo table. Opposite to port is the full galley aft of the companion seat. Engine room access is through several hatches in the salon sole.
Forward and down three steps is the master stateroom and split head. The stateroom features a queen island berth (80" X 58") with drawer storage underneath and hanging lockers to port and starboard. Overhead is a screened hatch and 4 opening ports. Aft of the stateroom to starboard is the head with a Corian countertop, sink, and fresh water toilet. To port is the shower in which the owners installed an additional sink, vanity and Corian countertop in 2013. Access to the helm wiring is easily accessed behind two large doors in the starboard head.
The large shaded cockpit is accessed through the aft sliding door. A very useful stratoglass full enclosure, including screens, was built in 2013, and is included. There were several exterior and interior hand holds were added in 2013. Three Freeman watertight hatches in the cockpit open to spacious lazarettes, and there is additional storage in lockers under the port and starboard cockpit coaming. The transom door opens onto a large swim platform.
Rhumba is bright, airy and roomy. Throughout is very generous drawer, hanging locker and bin storage. Finished by Atlantic Boat Company in Brooklyn, Maine, as a recreational vessel, the quality of build is unsurpassed.
