The Hunter Ranger 265 is a modern styled small family yacht packing a lot of accommodation into her length, with 4 adults plus two children berths, and 6 foot plus headroom. The hull form is stable and handles nicely, and is matched to a very easy to handle rig with a self-tacking jib.
British Hunter introduced the Ranger 265 is 1994, and about 100 were built between then and 1999. Designed by David Thomas, the round-bilged hull form flattens into a near-chine aft, improving downwind stability and giving enough volume aft to tuck an aft double berth into such a short hull. Most Rangers were bilge-keel versions, and these had a remarkably high angle of vanishing stability of 147°.
The sail plan is a fractional rig sloop, with a self-tacking jib which sheets to a curved track by the mast.
