In October 2005, adventurer Adrian Flanagan set sail on the Alpha Global Expedition, a single-handed ‘vertical’ circumnavigation. In May this year, he completed the last part of this spectacular expedition, from Norway to the south of England. We are honoured to offer the expedition yacht, “Barrabas” for sale. Constructed entirely from Titanium enriched 316L Stainless Steel, this extremely strong yacht benefits from extensive upgrades. Please contact us for fuller details and pictures. Hand-built in France, the material for this Francoise Charpentier designed yacht was quality-tested and supplied by the national French Stainless Steel fabricator. Built to withstand the most severe conditions, “Barrabas” is only the 14th yacht to be sailed single-handed west about Cape Horn. The deck layout, with centre cockpit, the Stainless Steel mast supported by 12 stays, the strongly built keel and the skeg-hung rudder guarantee an extremely seaworthy yacht under any circumstances. “Barrabas” comes with a full suit of sails in good condition, including a new (unused) cruising chute. “Barrabas” is equipped with an Ampair wind generator, a solar panel array, a Hydrovane self-steering system and back-up alternators. All deck gear is over-engineered, sized to meet the demands of a 70-foot yacht. On deck fuel cages can accommodate an additional 300 litres. This is a yacht designed for serious blue water cruising. “Barrabas” benefits from a comprehensive range of navigational aids, including a Winpro 32 satellite image receiver, wireless TackTick instruments and a new Furuno chart plotter/radar. “Barrabas” underwent an extensive re-fit programme in 2005, including sandblasting and resealing the hull. With safety paramount for offshore sailing, the yacht is also equipped with a new 406 MHz GPS EPIRB, a 6-man liferaft, an unsinkable dinghy with sailing rig and a Jordan Series Drogue tailored for “Barrabas”. The interior is designed for long distance sailing. There is a large chart table and fully equipped galley with 2 sinks and pressurized hot and cold water. Ample storage space and 4 to 6 berths (2 in the aft cabin, 2 in the forecabin and 2 in the saloon) ensure the comfort of the crew. Furthermore, there are large tanks for diesel (with day tank) and water, and even an electric and a manual water maker. An extensive inventory of spare parts is included. Are you looking for a unique, well-equipped and seaworthy yacht constructed to the highest standards and with the best materials? Then ask us for the full details of “Barrabas”. For more information on the capabilities of this extraordinary yacht, have a look at the Alpha Global Expedition website. “Barrabas” is moored in Hamble Point marina in the UK. | ||
