In our century long experience, we, at Beneteau, have always worked on improving our yacht building methods. Today's result is that every Beneteau boat delivered has become a symbol for quality and robustness. The samples of polyester we dray are regularly laboratory-tested for mechanical resistance. All bulkheads are fibered to the hull to ensure maximum rigidity. Each finished First 18 is placed in a pool to test the engine and check the watertightness of the boat.

When designing the first 18, J.M. Finot gave this micro-cupper the look of a small racer, sharp built and elegant. Her beamy flat stern provides an astounding form stability and exceptional possibilities for speed downwind. When sailing upwind, the high efficiency of the keel and the capacity to take fail allow for the setting of a large area with great ease. The First 18 proves to be powerful and dependable in a strong wind. Her vocation as a cruising yacht becomes evident in such conditions. The centerboard version reduces her draft to 55 cm and enables you to discover the charm of small creeks and beaches, and also facilitates transport and beaching. With her 400 lbs of casi iron ballast in her keel, her very great polyester thickness at the waterline and bottom, the First 18 truly is a real seagoing boat.
Complete accommodation and excellent finish:
By putting the berths at 15cm over the bottom, the designer liberated a remarkable volume for a sailboat of this size. The 1,85 x 0,55m saloon berths will satisfy even the tallest. Foreward there is a triangular double-berth and plenty of locker space. The concealable cocker proves very practical in use. The abundance of teak veneerings, the quality of the material used for inner ceiling and the warnish of the tissues contribute to a pleasant feeling of cosy comfort.
The rigging of a 7 meters:
Rigging and equipment are exceptionally complete for a sailboat of this class. You will find two excellent winches for fingertip lightning of the jib sheets, long head-sails allowing for precise positionning of the car and block point, rear stay tackle to tune the mast rake, a self-bailing anchor well a sheer rail, a sliding hatch and a transparent forehatch, an engine support. Just compare! Not any competitor offers such an equipment.
